Through the Power of Expression

Spread the love

Art is the language that breaks through all barriers. It serves as a catalyst for healing and restoration.

We all experience adversity, trauma and pain in our lives. The world is full of brokenness and turmoil.

Using Art to Cope with Trauma

I grew up listening to the 80’s music. Music plays an important role in healing and in our culture. It helps us to go through some tough challenges in our lives. Also, music, theater, and dance movements, strengthens our memory (neuro). Cultural dances have great meaning and they’re passed down through generations. Stories are told through each dance with a powerful message.

Spoken word Is a narrative medicine (storytelling) a vital form of art which helps to reduce pain, stress, anxiety, PTSD, depression and reduce chronic illness.

Art improves cognition and behavior and allows opportunity for self-expression and personal growth. Art conveys messages… a vital form of communication.

Comedy, humor, laughter are good for the soul, the immune system and creates connections.

Meditation and Spirituality promotes deep relaxation and connection with mind, body and soul.

Drama Therapy is used as a therapeutic approach to help others deal with difficult issues in their lives.

Overall, there’s a variety of different types of arts worldwide. Any form of the creative process is healing for you and your loved ones. There’s purpose in pain.
